L'Oreal, the world's largest cosmetics maker, said first-half profit rose 6.8 percent, the slowest growth in three years, as European and U.S. shoppers pared spending on makeup and perfumes. Net income in the six months through June climbed to 1.26 billion euros ($1.9 billion), from 1.18 billion euros, a year earlier, the Paris-based company said today. L'Oreal last month reported the slowest quarterly revenue growth in three years and reduced its annual sales target. L'Oreal has expanded in emerging markets from Russia to China to compensate for a weaker dollar and slowing demand in both western Europe and the U.S., which is facing the worst housing slump in 27 years.L'Oreal repeated its forecast that earnings per share will rise at least 10 percent this year on a basis excluding currency swings.

The Rainbow Room international artistic team worked its magic on the stars' hair at the much publicised T in the park 2008 this month. Tim members were based in the VIP area of the main artist's green room providing the stars with their hair expertise during the three-day music festival. The team proved one of the main attractions within the artist' village and enjoyed mingling with many of the hottest names on today's music scene. Suzie McGill of Rainbow Room International Uddingston, in Glasgow, was delighted with the response to the team: "They had an amazing experience this year, in gets better everytime," she said. "We were incredibly busy, and it's a pleasure to be invited to be the official hairdressers of "T in the park."
