Polarity men hair collection stands out thanks to its contrasts that reflect an overall man concept. It incorporates the possibility of our contemporary times to merge actual trends with historical characters and styles of past centuries. Thus the newest cut trends are complemented by a styling depicting previous decades. Beautiful materials, highly dim colours and unusual details relate to the luxury of ancient times which intertwine mysterious approaches of artists such as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and fragile darkness of Edgar Alan Poe or Charles Baudelaire poetry. The hair styles excel with timeless variability that opens the door to creativity and thus inspires men to bigger playfulness and yet a style that is easy to achieve. A touch-and-go styling transforms a businessman styling into a loose haircut reflecting the actual man’s mood. Whether you choose the modern look of the hairstyle or keep to the classical cuts complement them with accentuated items. Contemporarily, you can afford to have shaved hair combined with longer hair or even contrasting hairstyles that do not fit any rules, quite the contrary. Wake up the playfulness in you and express your actual mood. Say it with hair!

A literal and figurative representation of the graphic and repetitive pattern known as stripes. This collection illustrates the power of repeating textures in hair and fashion. The contrast between the use of light and dark colours exemplifies the strength of repetition.

haircollection Ethos Creative Team

Ultra Texture’ is the result of a collaboration with clothing designer Emma Beach and her label at Trouble At Mill. The inspiration came from textile designer and painter Sonia Delaunay. Famous from her involvement in the ‘Orphism’ movement, a type of Cubism, her textiles were mainly patchwork. This and paneling mixed with glossy and metallic fabrics was the perfect accompaniment for this collection of matte, coarse and textured looks created by backcombing and compressing the hair. Though very modern, these images evoke 20’s bohemian Paris.

The representation of minimalism displayed through this collection strips hair culture to its basic ingredients. Taking everything away highlights the depth of hair itself; displaying different textures, shapes, and movements. It’s a bare image of hair defining itself.

WHITE NOISE presents a futuristic vibe, highlighted by a gritty fashion edge with tones of Jean-Paul Gaultier, and bound together with an over-arching theme of metallic and highlighted by definitive dimension and strength. Drawing inspiration from the desire to work with different fibres and metallic materials, WHITE NOISE delivers a tough, yet mildly ethereal subtext, with white and metallic presenting a perfect juxtaposition of softness and toughness. Structure and form inspire the hair with braids, cuts and metal threading incorporated throughout. The use of metallic materials such as nails and metal rings highlight futuristic elements and strength in each image. The use of metals emphasizes texture and shine, delivering another dimension to the hair, while the metallic theme is weaved throughout the makeup.

“SURFACING, a collection with a difference – Haunting, heartbreaking, moving, and empowering. Inspired by complete strangers I have met and their incredible stories that they were brave and kind enough to share with me…. all their stories were heartbreaking, yet the storytellers were so powerful, inspiring and just so beautiful showing strength & hope. I wanted to create something to show my deepest gratitude, something that anybody who saw my collection for the first time, would get a similar feeling I felt when I met these storytellers along the way. Haunting, heartbreaking, moving, and empowering. The body paint reflects the hardships we experience, sometimes feeling like those days will never end. But there will come a day, where we can open our eyes and breath, and see no darkness, only beauty, even if it’s for a glimpse of a moment”.

l'oreal station

The international beauty giant has announced it has becoming a strategic partner to a major tech centre in the global startup scene, Station F. With this agreement, L’Oréal becomes Station F’s partner for development of early stage digital beauty startups worldwide. As part of the partnership, L’Oréal will run its own beauty accelerator inside Station F.

What is Station F?

Station F is based in Paris, backed by its creator Xavier Niel (Free Telecom, Kima Ventures, 42 coding school), a leading entrepreneur in the France tech scene. It was opened in June this year, with the 34,000m2 campus set to be home to over 1,000 startups, with a planned 600-person housing extension opening in 2018.

How is L’Oréal going to be involved?

Through its beauty accelerator based on the campus, L’Oréal is set to finance 62 workstations there. The company says it intends to support selected startups providing expertise in beauty and marketing, as well as networking and mentorship with group’s key stakeholders and a dedicated digital team. Jean-Paul Agon, Chairman and CEO of L’Oréal, notes that its nature as a French-headquartered company makes partnership with Station F particularly appropriate.

L’Oréal in digital

L’Oreal has made considerable strides in the recent period, taking on various strategic partnerships and making multiple significant investments in the specific field of startup development in the beauty tech scene. Our partnership with STATION F is strategic to help us connect, collaborate and support the rising generation of digital beauty entrepreneurs. This partnership adds to L’Oréal’s large-scale digital open innovation strategy, which includes investments in Partech Ventures, an international venture capitalist firm, and Founders Factory, a London based digital accelerator and incubator.
